Epson SX405 Details

The Stylus SX405 is the latest multi-function printer from Epson to offer great quality printing as well as scanning and copying facilities. Running costs for the SX405 in terms of the costs of the genuine Epson ink cartridges are nothing to write home about, they following is a long line of expensive Epson ink cartridges. The Epson SX405 ink cartridges consists of four printer ink cartridges one for each of the colours, and while this means each cartridge/colour can be change independently of each other and saves money in the long run they are still expensive at £30 for a full set. The one saving grace is the fact that there are compatible inks available for the SX405 which cost a far more affordable £15 a set. The SX405 has an impressive spec sheet and most of its performance on paper translates into the real world, one thing that doesn’t however is the quoted print speed. Epson claim the SX405 is able to print 34ppm (pages per minute) but test have shown this figure to be way off and it only capable of printing 10ppm. The print quality produced by the SX405 more than makes up for it’s slightly sluggish speed, this is in part thanks to its super high 5760 x 1440dpi resolution which results in sharp text and graphics as well as great photo prints. In addition to the great printing the SX405 also offers high resolution scanning through it built-in A4 flat bed scanner which has been cleverly incorporated into the device with a slim line design. The photo copier makes use of the SX405’s flat bed scanner and it produces great quality copies with speed and accuracy. In general the SX405 is very hard to find fault with, the negatives are little things like its little nosier than it competitors but in terms of the important things like print quality and value for money its better than the competition.
